Computer standards

When setting up your computer device please ensure the following steps have been completed to ensure your device is secure and compliant with our SOC2 controls. No Sourcegraph data should be accessed without these standards in place.

1. Create a complex laptop password that meets our password requirements.

2. Encryption is enabled on your device. Below are links to steps on how you can turn on device encryption for macOS and Windows.

3. Your laptop screen is set to lock after 10 Minutes of inactivity. Steps on how to set screen lock/screensaver times for macOS and Windows are below.

4. Firewall is enabled on your device. Steps on how to enable firewall for macOS and Windows are below.

5. Your computer is up to date with the latest security patches and system updates. Steps on how to configure automatic updates for macOS and Windows are below.

Additionally, all machines should be set up with an antivirus.
